How can I make a Birthstone Bridal Bouquet for step children?

My wedding is in Aug., my dress has purple swarovski crystals in it, the bridesmaids are dressed in a muted gold. I was going to use gold/cream, purple and green for my bouquet colors when I realized that's 3 of the 5 step kids birthstone colors. I want to incorporate all 5 colors in my bridal bouquet. What flowers could I use to make this work without looking really weird? The colors are Ruby, Emerald, Aquamarine, Citrine and Amethyst. Can it work and still look good?

Looking for creative ideas like incorporating ribbons, crystals, fillers, berries, etc to get all the colors represented. It doesn't necessarily have to be a flower for each color.

I appreciate the help!

What a fabulous idea!! Here is an idea ... for aqua and amethyst you can use hydrangea; for emerald you can use wax leaves; tie everything together with a cream ribbon and use ruby pins to secure the ribbon.

Check this page out, it tells you some other birth flowers that you could use!!
Reply:O that is SO cool! I had four colours for our wedding, and used trailing ribbons from my bouquet of all the colours, as well as having them as flowers in the bouquet.

Best thing is look at books at the florists - it's amazing the things they can use that we wouldn't even have thought of.

And, could you somehow post a pic of your wedding gown? I got married when there were no colour accents on gowns, and purple is my fave colour! I would have loved to have colour on my gown.
Reply:what a nice idea, how about getting a beaded garland, or making one, with each of the colors and intertwining it throughout your bouquet, or, you could have a white rose dyed to each color, or you could use ribbons of each color to adorn your flowers..

good luck and best wishes....
Reply:Very cute... you could even do something as simple as glue a crystal and write each child's name on a nice piece of ribbon.

Then use the ribbon to tie your bouquet.... very little work but still personally and meaningful :)
Reply:why not their Birth flowers?!?

Feburary: Iris

March: Jonquill

May: Lilly of the Valley

July: Larkspur

November: It's a mum, and it's not very appropriate... maybe you could get ribbon in a golden color or some of those funky glass bead jewels they make to stick out from it, to extend the bouquet...

keep in mind this will be very "wildflower" The right florist can make these flowers look wonderful together!

The good thing is, Larkspur is purple, so is the Iris... Jonquill is golden and Lilly of the valley is white, so you won't ahve too many colors!

Congrats and good luck!

How much can I expect to spend on flowers?

I want real flowers, but not a ton:

-4 simple bridesmaids bouquets each with 3 orange gerbera daisies and some greens.

-1 bridal bouquet with orange gerberas, dark pink roses, white daisies and some greens.

-9 boutonierres, each with 1 orange gerbera and a bit of green

We are not having flower centerpieces or decorating with flowers.

How much do you think that would run me?

I am a wedding designer in the dallas tx area, but prices vary according to location and time of year - so this is just a guideline at best.

Bridesmaids $20 each is what I would charge, non holiday.

Bridal - depending on size - $85, but I would suggest you skip the white daisies, white bleeds out color and against a white dress will cause what looks like blank spots - for best look in person and photos, go with all color. again price is non holiday.

Bouts - $12.95 each

I would budget arround $300
Reply:It all depends on where you are located. I had a 6 gerbera daisy bouquet with some greens for my wedding, and it was $75.00... That was in Sedona AZ.

Call around and see what they quote you. Just because you get a quote, doesn't mean you have to give them your business.

Good luck, and Congratulations!
Reply:It's going to vary so much depending on where you live and what scale of a florist shop you go in. Based on some of the shops I've priced I would say in $800-$1,000 range.
Reply:I would think part of the cost depends on where you live and the access the flower shop may have.

Just a guess but I would say 400-600.

Congrats!
Reply:It depends where you are - mine were around £250 for bridal and 2 bridesmaids posies
Reply:It really depends on your area but I think $500 would be a general estimate.
Reply:Just a budget guess - $500 - 600.
Reply:gerberas go like nearly 10 bucks a stem in most places i've been to

What are some Taiwanese/Chinese Wedding customs for a bridal shower?

We're planning a shower for our friend from Taiwan and want to use some wedding customs for the shower. I'd like to know how to decorate (colors and flowers) and what gifts I should give.

What are some Taiwanese/Chinese Wedding customs for a bridal shower?
great question! bridal shower is a non Chinese traditional event, which means we don't have any customs for this. So you can decide what to do and what to give freely based on what makes your friend happiest.

I am trying to think of some nice ideas to get my bridal party as a thank you?

I have 6 girls and 6 guys, 1 junior bridesmaid, 2 flowers girls and a ring bearer. Any ideas of what to get them? I don't want to do anything TOO expensive.

7 deadly sins :D♥

Jk

Maybe like get a plastic shoe if your going for a fairytale.♥

A tiny flower vase if it's traditional.♥

And for the guys♥

Get some cologne!

For the little boy get some video games (like one or so)
Reply:For my bridesmaids I got them compact mirrors that were engraved with their initials. They all loved them and you still find the mirrors in their purses! I think I paid $14 or $15 each for them, which included the engraving (Online, but I can't remember which one! I'm sure there are a ton of websites that sell them). Our groomsmen and ushers got nice folding knives and we got them engraved with their initials too. (about $7 each from eBay). For our flowergirls, we got cute little pearl earrings from WalMart. We did not have a ringbearer.
Reply:gift cards..... different depending on the person......

If you decide to dry the flowers use silica gel. It's reusable. I have a woman who does this professionally. She takes the bride's bouquet %26amp; makes a beautful framed arrangement with the flowers.
Reply:my niece kept every flower her boyfriend ever sent her. The were

dry of course.....but she used them to carry.....talk about flowers that were meaningful..............Everyone thought it was great !

When I married everyone carried a single rose with ribbons including me. Never regretted it.
Reply:Start by making only one of each. I.E. make one bridesmaid group, etc.

Go to Hobby Lobby/Micheal's, if you live in the US. They usually have sales a few times each month/every few months where they put flowers on sale. We purchased our flowers for less than $100!!

Go through magazines, books, and websites and find the design that you want. When you go to the store, look at your options and see what works.

Also, don't forget about the boutonnieres! And be sure to buy ribbon!
Reply:Silk flowers are such a hassle, don't look real and are sometimes a lot more expensive than real flowers. Try looking up a local flower wholesale store...they supply those people you might see in the city who sell flowers. The 3 bridesmaids will only need 4-5 callas each and can be tied with ribbon (those are the easiest). Make sure you realy want to have a cascade because those are very expensive to make, fake or real...they require a great deal of flowers and time. If you are a smaller woman and depending on the style of your dress, a cascade might not be a good idea.
Reply:You will need floral tape and wire for the nosegays. I recommend white tape and 24 gauge or thinner wire. When you choose the silk flowers, gather them as if they are the bouquet to get your idea of size. Also get whatever ribbon or lace you want to trim them with.

I also recommend practicing a bit before using the blooms chosen as best, though with silks you can always redo without much damage to the flowers as long as you keep your hands clean.

Wrap stems onto a wire with the floral tape twisting down 1 1/2 to 2 inches. As you begin to assemble, use the floral tape to hold together and separate the stems which can be adjusted to whatever form you want because of the wire. And when you have the arrangement you like, that clump of taped wire can then be shaped into a handle.

As for table arrangements I would try to keep them low (not too tall) so they don't block guests accessibility to share. A platter or dish with a small spray anchored in the center, then surrounded with glass marbles is attractive and inexpensive.

There are just so many options I hope this makes some sense to you. I am new to the internet, but have callouses from making flowers into nosegays, boutonnieres, and table, aisle, and cake arrangements.

Have fun whatever you do. And I hope you the happiest of days for your wedding!
Reply:Check with your church first.

Mine wouldn't let me use silk flowers.

Reply:I did everything to make my own. First you need to decide what you want each bouquet and centerpiece to look like. I'm sure you already have an idea. And your supplies will vary depending on your plan but you'll most likely need some floral tape and ribbon. Since you're using silk flowers you might start off with a plastic bouquet handle that you find at a craft sore, and it's has styrofoam inside and you cut your flower stems to length and put them in the styrofoam. I wish I could give you more details, but feel free to email me some pictures of what you want and I'll see if I can pinpoint something more specific. rdnkchic2003@yahoo.com.
Reply:Try your wedding company. This site has instruction on how to make different kind of decorations for your wedding. What you ca do also is try searching on google or any other search engine.
Reply:Check with a professional florist, its not as much as you think and it will look great and you won't have to worry about it.
