heres the thing...I am having an outdoor wedding and will be walking across a bridge and down the aisle at my wedding...my two younger cousins are carrying the train of my dress, however, they are both females...traditionally if they are males they are called pages...what is the proper name for them if they are females. Also, am i responsible for purchasing their dreses?? Our wedding is in June, do you think an appropriate easter dress for both the "pages" and the flowergirl, and suit for the ring bearer would be appropriate?? they are all growing like weeds and im afraid ordering a flower girl/page dress from my bridal boutique would be outgrown before our big day! Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!
Wedding Pages???
I would still call the girls "pages" and because you are having an outdoor wedding, easter dresses and suits would be a fantastic idea, because they will cost less and it wont be so bad if they get them dirty or grow out of them quickly.
Reply:While I can't tell you for sure if girls are also called pages (I think so, but probably someone else will have a better answer), your idea to buy the dresses/suit during the Easter season is excellent. Great way to save funds and make sure that the items fit.
Edit:
I just found the term "junior attendant" at this site:
http://www.foreverwed1.com/articles/chil...
That term may apply if you prefer not to use the term page.
Some more info on involving children:
http://www.foreverwed1.com/articles/chil...
Reply:Call them "paiges"... more feminine than "pages" also feel free to get them after Easter (clearance) dresses and the ring bearer an after Easter suit!
You only have to pay for their clothes if you want to. Their mom is responsible for the tab, just tell her what to buy!
Reply:Why on earth do they need "names". They are all attendants like the bridesmaids and, yes, it would be appropriate for you to at least offer to pay for their dresses. Bridal shops charge horribly high prices for small dresses. Go through yellow pages and find a kids shop that carries first communion dresses. They'll have lovely ones for $40. By next mont even SEARS will have gorgeous easter dresses or white communion dresses that will be cheap. Get the dreses a bit loose so if they grow in 4 monts, they can be altred a wee bit.
Reply:They're called pages or train bearers, and neither term is gender specific.

Help With Wedding Planning?
okay. i'm getting married in late spring. the reception is at a park with beautiful gardens. it looks like something out of a fairytale. anyways...that time of year, its normally in like the 70's...but since its near the ocean, it might be a little chilly. now to the actual questions:
1. what kinds of flowers should i have? i was thinking either lillies (http://antiqueangelchapel.com/bouquets/p... with some other white flowers mixed in...or roses (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...
2. can you help me find bridesmaids dresses and a flowergirl dress?
*they should be either spagetti strap or strapless
*the flowergirl dress should be white
*the bridesmaids dresses should go well with the flowers
*somewhat affordable, but definitely not cheap-looking
*about knee length...flowergirl dress can be floor length
Help With Wedding Planning?
I really ove the mixed flowers with the roses, you should have those.
Now for bridesmaid dresses,I thought sience the mixed flowers, had a pink-watermelon color to them, that these dresses here would go good with them($130)

Need a small daisy like flower...can you help me?!?
Im planning a bridal shower for my brothers fiance and found a bunch of really cute small flower pots for party favors and wasn't sure what kind of flower to put in them since I don't have much of a green thumb. I only have like 2 months and I wasn't sure if I had time to grow them myself or if I should buy some. Were kind of going with the daisy/gerber daisy theme or something that is somewhat similar and it a citrus party (lime, yellow and orange). So if you can think of anything at all that will help me that would be GREAT!!!! There's a picture on this website that I Really like. http://www.hostesswiththemostess.com/the... They're the mini vases with ribbons tied around them.
Need a small daisy like flower...can you help me?!?
There are tiny daisy like flowers that, I believe, are in the mum family. I've already seen them in a pot.

Catholic wedding?
I'm Catholic and I'm getting married next month and I have a question reg. music. If anyone has been married in the Church, do you remember how many songs were needed and for what purposes? I know, bridal party processional, bride processional, the ave maria for flower offering, music during communion and the recessional...anything else? Thanks!
Catholic wedding?
I think you just about have it all, but this should verify:
http://www.popular-wedding-songs.com/cat...
...it has the order of the music for a Catholic wedding. I am Catholic myself, but it's been quite some time since I have attended a Catholic wedding. Good luck and congratulations!
Reply:You should have gotten a packet/letter from the church with the breakdown and suggested music by now. If not call and speak to the music director today. They will be able to give you the best suggestions and such. Also keep in mind that many churchs only allowed approved religious music during the mass. Good Luck and Congrats
Reply:You should talk to your priest. If you've discussed the ceremony then you should know exactly how many musical selections to have. We didn't realize we needed one more musical selection until we discussed our ceremony with out pastor. Try talking to him.
Reply:If you are having Communion, is someone taking up the gifts? Then you'll need an offertory song.

Poem for Shower?
Ok, for the favors for my sister's bridal shower I am handing out little grow your own flower kits. On the kit I would like to put a short poem... This is all I came up with, but I don't think it is good enough... Can you give me some more ideas?
Please except this flower
As a thanks to coming to the Bridal Shower
It represents a love that blooms
So thank you from the bride and groom
Poem for Shower?
very good!
Reply:That is really cute! You could really go somewhere. Don't ever let anybody tell you otherwise.
Reply:I think it is pretty good - except it should be 'accept'.

Wedding hair help!???
I am getting married next spring and I am looking for a down-do or partial up do. My hair is currently a few inches past my shoulders and I am not going to cut it. It is straight and brown. Here is the link to my dress - http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns...
The color is Peridot green. I will not be wearing a veil and would like to somehow incorporate small flowers into the hairstyle. It is a simple wedding with only close family and friends.
Can anyone suggest hairstyles or websites? Also, I do not want to pay for a "virtual hairstyles" website. I've seen them before and they are no good.
Wedding hair help!???
well ur dress is gorgeous...but the best way to know is going to a beauty salon and having them do a test run with ur hair...its ur wedding and u dont want anything to go wrong...if thats's not the rigth idea just try the simple and elegant loose curls look and pin your hair back slightly ( half up kinda ) and put some small flowers near the pin make sure u have some hair...its a really neutral pretty look...
Reply:ok loose waves and tie some strands back with flowers and maybe some silver babybreaths
Reply:http://www.yourweddingcompany.com/index....
There is a lot here....good luck searching!
Reply:well, the dress is strapless, so i would try to do a sort of hair do that is half up, half down, so you dont have just a stretch of neck and shoulders between your hair and the dress. thats a lot of space to fill. check out a few wedding magizines. a lot of them have hair styles in there, for every type of dress you can imagine. the most recent issue of brides had a full feature on hair. there were some really great styles in there. if you did go with the half up half down part, you could put the flowers in the part that was up. keep in mind that depending how your veil lays, it may squish the flowers. or, go talk to a hair styleist. they will be able to help you out, and maybe even do a test run of a few styles so you can see what you like best. my hair is about as long as yours, and i know from experience there is a lot that can be done with it. your possibilities are endless girl. i think some loose curls could be very pretty, with part of it up to pin your veil into.
Reply:Ooooooohh, what a lovely dress. Somewhat formal. I'd suggest a french braid to echo the beautiful weaving in back, with small flowers woven into the braid. You'll look so gorgeous.
Reply:www.theknot.com is great for all kinds of wedding questions. you do have to register, but it's free. i didn't notice any increase in spam when i signed up so i think its ok.
congrats!
Reply:beautiful dress!! Why not take the top half and pull it up and put it in a barette with flowers in a halo type setting or just have the top pulled back and curl everything in big curls
My MIL is a florist and she says any florist can make a small flower girl sized halo/ crown of flowers for around 30 or so out of small wild flowers with a ribbon or 2 off of the back of it if you wanted that
Reply:How about setting it on large rollers for some volume and waves, then from a center part braid asection on each side to the back, tucking small flowers in as you go. When you meet in the back, continue braiding it then wind and pin the sections up. Tuck more flowers in at the back. Do not make the braid extremely tight, keep it loose and let some tendrils escape for a loose romantic look. I've also seen this style done with strands of seed pearls from a craft or fabric store, woven with the hair in the braid. That would really contrast nicely with your brown hair.
Good Luck!

I would look through bride mags for hair styles -- they are weddingish and would work well to give you a nice visual.

In my upcoming wedding,I am debating whether or not to pay for my 2 flower girls dresses and ring bearer suit?
My wedding is in May and the mom's of the flower girls and ring bearer are NOT in the bridal party so what do u think is best to do? I know its traditional to pay, but I'm not that much of a traditional person...My one friend already asked me if I was going to pay for her dress.."I said I'm not sure, I have to calculate my budget and I'll let you know"...This is not in my budget, but I can take it out of my paycheck if everyone thinks I should.....Based on this info, Do you think I should pay for the dresses/suit? Or do you think I should let the Mother's pay for their kids dresses/suits?
In my upcoming wedding,I am debating whether or not to pay for my 2 flower girls dresses and ring bearer suit?
Only you know if the parents can really afford these outfits. If you know they can't then yes I would pay. If you know it won't break the bank for them then I would tell them there is no more in the budget. I know at the men's wearhouse you get one free tux with the bridal party. It usually goes to the groom but it can go to the little boy. Or it can still go to the groom who has a more expensive tux, and then just pay for his. As for the little girls, there is no need to buy them $100+ dresses. Christmas and Easter time have gorgeous dresses in department stores (especially Macys) and you can probably get them dresses for $30 or $40 each.
Reply:I don't think that you need to pay for the dresses and the tux unless you'd like to. I thought it was actually their responsibility to pay. If one of the parents comes to you and lets you know that she can't afford it, then you could pay, but if you pay for one, I think you should pay for them all.
Reply:When Im a bridesmaid, I dont mind paying for the dress-- if I couldnt afford it I would mention something to the bride privately. So I dont think you should feel you have to pay for their dresses unless one of them needs help.
For the flower girls and ring bearer, same story: the moms understood that they would buy the dress/suit when they accepted. If you want to pay for just the flower girls and ring bearer, I think you could do that discreetly without the bridesmaids knowing-- I doubt the moms would be talking loudly about it.
Reply:Traditionally the kid's parents pay for their outfits, excluding flowers.
They come to the rehearsal, but not the rehearsal dinner.
The kids also pose for wedding pics with the wedding party, and their parents stay to make sure the kids are ready when they need to be and kept busy when it isn't their turn to be in the pictures.
Overall, the parents pay for the dresses and suits. The little boy can probably wear a suit he has, but if you want matching flower girl dresses, you will need to pick something out for the parents to buy.
Reply:I think you should pay. You asked them to be in the wedding and it would be a very nice gesture to pay for their dresses/suit. I know that you can find reasonably priced flower girl dresses, and I imagine renting a small suit for the ring bearer would not be that expensive either.
Congrats!
Reply:You should. BTW the parents of the RG and FG should be included in the wedding party activities because they are the guardians of the children that are in the wedding party; therefore, they should be includeed in the rehearsal dinner, as this is gracious, polite and traditional thing to do.
If you cannot pay for the dresses, tell them to use a dress that they already own, for example, an easter dress or christmas dress that match your colors.
If you cannot afford the dress, then don't have a flower girl and a ring bearer. That's a dated tradition that people are not doing anymore.
Good luck
ADDED: Well, that's what you get for having champagne dreams on a beer budget. If you cannot afford it, then do not have them, instead of being rude and expect people to foot the bill for something that you cannot afford and then snub them from the wedding activities. REALLY CLASSY!
Reply:I'm not paying for mine FG or RB clothes but I did find a website were you can get the dresses rather inexpensive. I don't see the need to buy a FG dress that cost 200.
Plus my wedding is in May so I'm actually hoping that I can find an Easter dress that the girls can wear.
PS The suit for the RB is only $40.
Reply:The mother of my flower girl and ring bearer is paying for their outfits. She offered, I told her "sure."
Reply:Firstly, it's NOT tradition to pay for anyone in your wedding parties attire. You are not obligated or required to pay for the fowergirl, the ringbear, the bridesmaids, no one. When someone agrees to be in your wedding party or to allow their children to do so, they assume the cost of their attire. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
That being said, if these children all have the same parents, if you CAN pay for part of their attire it is a nice gesture to ease the burden on the family, but again it is not required. Some things you can do aside from helping pay for the attire is to be aware of the cost of the items. Getting a flowergirl dress from a traditional bridal shop can be pricey. Opt instead to go to a department store and get a just as nice dress and suit for the children at a fraction of the cost, as a bonus, the kids could wear them again to other family occasions.
As for easing the finacial cost of your bridesmaids, pick out a moderately priced dress and go with a bridal shop that will allow them to put a deposit down rather than paying for the whole dress up front. See if you can do some leg work to get them the best deal on alterations. And as part of their gift get them things like jewelry or pay for them to get their hair done.
There are lots of things you can do for your party to keep the costs down for them, but if you can't afford to pay EVERYONE'S attire, don't pay for anyone's, it's asking for trouble. And don't let anyone make you feel you have an obligation to help them pay for things. While it's true they will probably help you a lot and throw you a great shower and bachelorette party, you shouldn't break yourself in order to stop them from going broke.
Reply:You should pay. It's traditional because it's the proper thing to do. You sound like you expect the bridesmaids %26amp; everybody else to take it out of their own paychecks if it's not in your budget. You should have the wedding you can afford, not the one you think will impress the most people.
Can you talk to your mother or clergyperson or somebody before you get out of hand? You're close to the edge now...
Reply:I've never heard of the bride paying for the clothes worn by the bridal party.. but if it is out of your budget then maybe you are asking them to get something too pricey.. maybe the flower girl can wear any party dress she already has and the ring bearer can wear dress pants and a polo shirt the same color as the wedding party..
generally i think kids in the wedding is just a recipe for disaster..
Reply:You should. This also ensures they are wearing what you want for your wedding. If you make the moms pay, what they may be able to afford may not be what you want in your wedding.
Reply:I personally would pay. But don't feel obligated. My wedding was in May, which is works out perfect because most stores have plenty of dresses for Easter. I bought my flower girl dress at Marshalls for $24.99!! I paid her dress, the parents paid for her shoes, hair bow, and jewelry.
The ring bearer tux cost just as much as the grown ups tux. Maybe you can work out a deal to pay for half of it.
Reply:buy your wedding dress and rent every thing else
Reply:I am only buying my flower girls dress because both parents are in my wedding on both sides, one is the maid of honor and the other is the best man. So they have our bachelorette parties and things to plan. Other than that I would not pay, thats just like being a bridesmaid they pay for it themselves. Just my opinion and experience. Hope it helps some.
