Bridal luncheon question...?

My girls and I are going to look at dresses this sunday for my wedding in July.

If everyone has time, I want to take them all out to dinner afterward. Does this count as my bridal luncheon? (My mom and the flower girl will also be there).

Is this supposed to be anything specific or just a thank-you gesture?

I'm not looking to go anywhere really expensive, but probably someplace like Applebee's or something after we're done dress shopping.

WIll this be okay or should I wait a little longer (closer to the date)?

Bridal luncheon question...?
A bridal luncheon is supposed to be hosted by the bride for her bridesmaids, and doesn't have to be formal. I think this is often when the bride gives the bridesmaids her thank-you gifts (typically some type of jewelry to wear at the wedding).

Your idea sounds really nice- especially fun after looking at dresses!
Reply:I think anytime you have time for it is a great idea! It's a way to show your girls how much they mean to you. So, you can do that anytime!

I might actually wait till after the wedding to have mine-invite all the girls over to my place and cook for them and have a great girls day in for mine....haven't decided yet. But it doesn't need to be expensive or fancy-so long as it just shows your friends how grateful you are for who they are in your life! :)

Have a great time, dress-hunting!!
Reply:I have to say I have never heard of a Bridal Luncheon, customs differ all over the world though so I am sure there are things we do here in the UK that are not done in the US!! I really like your idea of taking them for dinner after dress shopping, it's a nice way of getting them altogether and thanking them as a group. maybe double check what is normally done where you live as I wouldn't want you to offend anyone, but really for things like that there is no legal requirement so if that's how you want to do it then sounds great to me!
Reply:This is what I did. I did not have a bridal luncheon. I did not receive any complaints
Reply:I think that is a great idea! When I was in my cousins wedding 5 years ago {as a bridesmaid} we didn't have a bridal lunch or anything. She gave us our gifts at the rehersal dinner.
Reply:sounds like a nice idea.. As the wedding gets closer you will find that you have less and less free time.. so do it now i think!
Reply:a bridal luncheon is a formal wedding sit down for family + close friends

I would until the nearer the wedding date:
