I am throwing a bridal shower in April for my future sister in law...garden theme!!?

My question is since I am having a garden theme...I thought about making cupcake size cakes in flower pots and can decorate then with a fake flower. My question is while watching tv this past weekend I saw a commercial for commercial oven safe baking flower pots but I cannot find anything on the internet about them. I wanted to use them since they would be easier to use than real flower pots and probably safer. Or is there anyway I can use real flower pots that can be safe to eat the cake?

How about baking the cupcakes in foil small pans then setting them inside the "clay pots". You can then add tissue paper around the foil that compliments the other colors in your garden theme.

If you do it this way you won't have to worry about food being next to the clay it might not be safe could have lead in the clay or other contaminates.

Just a thought!

best of luck!

Reply:i found someone else online who knows how to do it. here's what she said...

If you bake the cake in the pot, make sure you soak the pot in water for about 30 minutes so that it has some moisture in it when you are baking. If you don't do this your cake will lose all of its moisture. You can also line the pot with tin foil to help with the moisture loss and so that you don't lose the cake out the hole in the bottom.

I am sure you could torte the cake, depending on the size of the pot you might want to stick a dowl rod through all of the layers just in case.

Don't know about the baking temperature or time though.

You can also take the paper off the cupcakes and cover the sides with colored fondant and add an extra strip across the top edge for extra effect. break up oreos and crumble them over the frosting on top to make it look like soil. and get candy flowers or u can use plastic or silk flowers on top.

Good luck %26amp; have fun.
Reply:I would line the pots with the non-stick foil and bake. When cooled, trim the foil so it cannot be seen. Then decorate as you want. If you have a cooking specialty shop in your area, check with them, they just might have the food safe ones. You could also get greenware pots (or even cleaned ceramic) and use foodsafe glaze -- then the ladies can take the pot home and reuse it for plants or whatever.
Reply:Bake the cupcakes in regular cupcake papers, then after they are baked and decorated you could put them in the flower pots!
