Do have a real happy marriage!?

This email is a bit lengthy but try and read it until the end. If it does not apply to you perhaps you may know someone who needs it. Have a great day.

For all those Married, Dating or thinking of marriage out there!!!

When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man!

That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer, she had lost my heart to Dew. I did'nt love her anymore..I just pitied her! With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Dew so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.

The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I did'nt have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Dew. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again. In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we should both struggle to live a normal life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a months time and she did'nt want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.

This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day. She requested that everyday for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door every morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.

I told Dew about my wife s divorce conditions. She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully. My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mummy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly, don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest.. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realised she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her. On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me. On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Dew about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.

She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily. Suddenly it hit me, .. she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head. Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mum out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly, it was just like our wedding day.

But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I had'nt noticed that our life lacked intimacy.

I drove to office... jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind... I walked upstairs. Dew opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Dew, I do not want the divorce anymore. She looked at me, astonished. Then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Dew, I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other any more. Now I realise that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart. Dew seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.

At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.

The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank, blah..blah.. blah. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!

If you do share this , you just might save a marriage

Do have a real happy marriage!?
That is one of the sweetest things I have read in a long time. I will pass it on. The first person I will pass it to is my husband. We too, have come to take advantage of each other in our old age and disregard the love we share. Although I do not desire that he carry me across the threshold each day, I do desire that we hold each other in love and admiration as we once did when we were young and so in love.

Thank you. And I wish you and your wife many years of happiness to come.

Reply:I have been married for over 10 yrs., it has not been an easy time, especially lately, the idea of divorce enters my mind countless times a day. However, I keep seeing the little things in my husband that keep me going. I thank you for sharing this story, and thank you for reminding me again of our real love.
Reply:This is really great!!! if i had been married, this would have probably made me cry %26amp; fall in love with my husband all over again. Every word said is so true..marriage life is a union of two people who from day one should continue to nurture the relationship until.... ideally... til last breath.

Kudos to all who standy by to the last lines of marriage vows!!!
Reply:Absolutely, phenomenal..
Reply:This is a beautiful story, but so true. Many people are always trying to hurry up and get a divorce, without see what actually is miss or what thay need to work on. Thank you for sharing this, I too will pass this on.
Reply:Just curious. Is it a true story?
Reply:Thank you for taking the time to share this. It was well worth the time it took to read it.
Reply:That is really beautiful....It brought a tear to my eye. Unfortunately though, there are some who never really loved in the first place.....were never prepared to carry her for even a minute. If only life could be that simple. Unfortunately I hear of too many people in an abusive situation where they dont just not carry their wives, they beat them into submission.....that kind of marriage should not be saved. But I agree, if there was love to begin with, then it can be salvaged and divorce should not embarked upon unless all other avenues have been exhausted.

What an intelligent wife you have.

Wish you happy married life.

Bouquets & boutonierres - help with colors.?

I'm pretty sure I've decided on this dress for me:

http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns...

Bridesmaids will wear apple gowns, maybe with black sashes (not sure yet, see link for an example)

http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...

My wedding colors are black, white %26amp; red (apple red). Wedding is Oct 31, 2009.

What color bouquets %26amp; boutonierres would look good? I'll choose flowers later based upon color.

Would it be weird if I had a red bouquet and the bridesmaids had white bouquets?

If I do that, could I give the groom a white boutonierre and the groomsmen red?

Or should I do red %26amp; white bouquets for all of us?

I've seen too many brides in white dresses with white bouquets and the flowers can barely be seen. If I am shelling out good money, I want to get some nice pics with my flowers.

Bouquets %26amp; boutonierres - help with colors.?
I like your colors, but isn't the groom supposed to match the bride, so he should have the white bout and the groomsmen the red. I think to separate the maid of honor from the bridesmaids you should have a full red bouquet, give her red and white, and the bridesmaids white. I just think that would be pretty but it's up to you I'm just throwing out some ideas. Good luck I'm sure the wedding will be beautiful! (the dresses are perfect)
Reply:Very nice bridesmaid dresses! Don't add the black sash! The bouts. depend also upon the color of the tuxes - I'm guessing they are wearing black, not Gray. I'd go with stephanotis, with maybe a touch of red, maybe in a ribbon.

I think it would be good if the bridesmaids had a white bouquet, but with touches of red.

For you, idk - it's odd to match to your dress unless you just have plain red with white touches.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

Yes, I LOVE the contrast of the bride with a bold bouquet (red as you suggested) and then the bridesmaids with a white. It looks great in pictures.

I would still do the groom with a white boutonniere and the groomsmen with red boutonnieres. That will look great!
Reply:congrats on your upcoming wedding. your gown is stunning! i love the red on it! their gowns are lovely!

i love your idea of your flowers being red and theirs white - it will make them stand out beautifully! the only minor suggestion i have is to put a little bit of white in your bouquet, whether it be one or two white flowers, or lace around outer edge of your bouquet, or baby's breath mixed in! just something to tie it into the girl's white bouquets. but other than that your ideas are awesome and i wish you the happiest of weddings and a great marriage!
Reply:personally i don't like the red on the dress. i would have it done in silver or gold. but its your choice.

i think the flowers as you suggested it is exactly what i would do.
Reply:Actually my brother %26amp; his now wife did exactly that for their wedding and the pictures turned out GREAT!! The red contrasted really well %26amp; liek u said, they stand out much better. Plus the white bouquets for us bridesmaids really stood out with our royal blue dresses. So I'd definitely go for the stand-alone coloured bouquets - more impact.

All the best!
Reply:that sounds great. that is what I'm doing, my bouquet is going to be mostly in color and the bridesmaids are going to mostly have white flower. same for the guys.
Reply:white
Reply:Why don't you have your bridesmaids carry red bouquets, then you can carry a red and white bouquet. The groom can have a red and white boutionierre and the groomsmen can have red ones...or you could do the reverse.
Reply:Its personal choce really, if you want to have rainbow stripes and dots everywhere I say go ahead, do whatever makes you happy.
Reply:A bouquet with red flowers and a few white ones would be great for you. You could have the bridesmaids carry all white ones. For the groomsmen i would go with white boutonierres and a red one for the groom.
Reply:Great dress! I like the red bouquet for you. Take a snip of your dress to your florist to get the right red for your flowers. There is a deep red rose that is spectacular. Also white roses varigated with red. You could mix or go solid with the red. White for the bridesmaids would also look great. Or you could have your girls carry one long stem white rose, lily, or the like.

Love your choices! Have a beautiful day.
Reply:For boutonierres..I made mine myself by layering a few different sized Ivy leaves, wrapping and curling the ends and spraying them with a shimmer spray. A hat pin and VIOLA! It looked great and they will pretty much go with any color scheme. Bouqet colors..maybe red, bright orange and yellow. Good Luck!

Help pick a wedding dree?

Ok here is the deal. My best friend Jen got engaged right before she left for duty. She was able to pick out the flowers and do most of the work. However she was unable to find a dress. she is coming home on leave and since we are the same size, she asked me if i would pick on for her. so i am going give some choices and maybe you can help me.

What color table linens?

Bridesmaids will be wearing lt.blue dresses %26amp; carrying bright pink %26amp; orange flowers.

At the reception, the tables will be decorated w/a *ton* of pink, orange %26amp; yellow spring flowers (tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, etc.) %26amp; small candles.

I would like the tables for the bridal party %26amp; buffet/bar to be ivory ~ to make them stand out. But really want lt. blue for the guests tables w/a slightly darker blue napkin.

Fiance says it will be too much color to have the spring boquets on the blue tables ~ but I think a whole room of ivory tablecloths always looks so plain %26amp; boring. (Sorry to everyone who likes that!)

What does everyone on YA! think? Would lt. blue tablecloths be too much?

What color table linens?
with those bright pretty flowers in that heavy dark wood room I would think the ivory or white might be too stark.. I would go with more of a parchment or khaki color for the tableclothes and white napkins.. i also agree that small simple white lights in the room would be fine.
Reply:Im doing my wedding baby blue table cloths to the floor and then sheer silver overlay.u could do that? i think the ivory thing is gross.
Reply:I don't think white or ivory table cloths will be too much at all. White with a blue napkin would be great. Blue table cloths and a different blue of napkins will be a bit much.
Reply:depends on your venue. if you have a "white and large" venue it could work.

however, if the venue is smaller and darker, then this could be overkill.

even if it's large and white, i would prefer ivory long tablecloths with a blue overlay.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

Here is my opinion after seeing the room. With the dark ceilings...I think it would look so nice to have WHITE table linens for all the tables with the light blue napkins (if available) and all the pretty bright colored flowers. That will look very elegant.

If you want the bridal table to stand out.....why not have the bridal table with a dark or medium blue tablecloth and light blue napkins. OR...go with white on the bridal table too and decorate the front of it with blue tulle and lights.
Reply:ivory or white will not look plain or boring, what it will do is give you a beautiful backdrop for your floral arrangements and candles.

all those gorgeous flowers on coloured cloths would be too much and the colours really would clash. i'm sorry, i know you'd love us to agree with you, but even though i don't know you i want your day to be wonderful. the white or ivory table linens will add that little touch of elegance that you want. and it will allow your bridal colours to stand out and really show them off in all their glory. your photographs will be gorgeous!

good luck and come on back and let us know what you decide on!

my wedding will be in the evening (october), so it will be an evening reception. my colors are black and white w/ an accent of hot pink or fuschia. now im not sure what to do about the tables and flowers. small wedding. around 50 people. finger foods. the reception is a good sized room w/ tables available. the floors and walls are white/ivory. i was thinking of doing black tablecloths with mainly white flowers and throwing a little bit of deep pink in there. but, in pictures ive seen, the black seems to suck up all the light...and then w/ all of my bridal party in black....it might be too much! i can rent either black or white chairs also. should i put a bow of some sort around them? what colors should i do for the tables? black or white? and what flowers for centerpieces? mainly white roses or some hot pink gerber daisies i was thinking about? im also wanting to use candles and flower petals but..am confused about which colors. help!

Confused and desperate for reception ideas! (color)?
Hi again:

Yes, I do agree that with the black tablecloths, black dresses...it might be a bit much.

Frankly, almost all the receptions I have been to....I never notice the color of the walls! Here is what I would do:

~ First.....is there a way to get round tables? With your small numbers, I think they look so much nicer that the standard "long banquet" tables. See if that is an option. It's so much easier for your guests to converse with others at the table too. If it's not an option...no big deal....just a thought.

~ Second, I would go with white...linens, chairs, cloth napkins.

~ Then....I would bring the color in with the centerpieces! With 50 guests and about 8/per table....you will only need about 7 tables/centerpieces.

~ It really depends on if you have the long banquet tables or the round ones, how big you want to go with a centerpiece. If you can only get the long tables....there is really not much room "across" the table. You need to remember that your guests will have their plates, glasses, etc. Here are some pictures:

http://www.columbianhall.com/images/main...

http://www.differrentals.com/images/tabl...

So....plan accordingly. Here is an idea, though:

Why not get "chuncky" vases like these:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/glcuva6.ht...

Fill 1/2 way with black river rock like this:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/polrivrocb...

OR...black vase gems:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/vasgemblac...

And, then fill with the bright pink gerbera daisies! I think that would look awesome! Then you could place some small votives or tealight candles around this. If you want to add to extra shine, place the vase on a mirror. That would be really pretty, especially since your reception is at night.

I wouldn't worry about using bows or anything decorative for the chairs unless you want to go all out and get chair covers in white and sashes in black.

Just my thoughts and ideas....
Reply:White tableclothes. Accent in your black and pink.

You could to black runer or pink runners.....or do both and cris cross them down the table.

Pink flowers in black vases

Pink and black candles

Pink colored water (food coloring) in vases with black stones and floating candles

The options are endless!! Go to www.theknot.com

You can look at reception pictures with your colors and get ideas
Reply:I'd stick with white tablecoths, and have a splash of pink and black perhaps in the form of napkins and favours, perhaps have whhite and pink flowers for the centre pieces, black would be too dark for tablecloths I think.
Reply:OK lets start at the beginning!

Wedding party in black! they would blend into the tables if the tables were clothed in black!

White floor, people would not know where the table started and the floor finished if the table were clothed in white.

So I would suggest fushia cloths!

Center piece standard white roses in a black vase!

Same with the candles White in back or visa versa. maybe silver or gold petals, stars, or black %26amp; white.

Black chairs with white bows.

Standard white dinner wear with silver of black cutlery!
Reply:Well, what you could do is have a white table cloth, but then use a black table runner. That would make it look nice and won't darken the room so much.

For the centerpieces i think that the white roses with the Gerbera daisies would look beautiful! I saw this centerpiece and thought it looked pretty cool. You could use white roses instead of the pink...

http://tgis.wetserver.net/liveimages/rec...

For the candles just stick with white. For flower petals you could use just white or do a mixture of white and pink.

Don't worry - just keep it simple and it will all turn out beautiful.

Good luck! ♥

Flower girl!?
Wow your wedding dress is amazing CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I personally like the second dress, the pop of colour would make your wedding dress stand out.

Hope you have an awesome day with what ever dresses you pick....Good Luck and God Bless
Reply:The first one defiantly!!! It just looks so wonderful. I hope you have an awesome time at your wedding, and congratulations!!!! Well best of luck. ~MermaidGirl76. : ]
Reply:I prefer the second dress.
Reply:I like the second one but it depends on your color sqeme if you have the dark red then go for it. if not go with the first dress.
Reply:The 2nd one. Color is always good. esp. in the wedding when you want everything to be colorful plus an all white dress would match yours. YOU want to stand out so get the 2nd one, plus the little girl would probably like color on her dress, makes it more fun for her to wear ;]
Reply:the first one
Reply:The second is adorable. It gets my vote.
Reply:i like this one better:

1.http://www.davidsbridal.com/flowergirl_d...

p.s. your dress is amazing and beautiful
Reply:The first dress matched your dress, but when I saw it I thought it was a little to adult for a 5 year old, I'd say go for the secound one.
Reply:I love the second one. Just get it in the color that matches your wedding colors. Beautiful dress for you by the way.
Reply:I think either dress will be super cute!! The added color on the second might be fun for her though!
Reply:The first one would compliment the gown you are going to wear. it be cute. I say go with the first one. it would go nicely with your gown. usually i see the flowers girls to match the brides dress. the first one would go very well.
Reply:/ I like the lilac trim with the second picture.
Reply:I would go with the first dress...it matches with your dress very well...I too am getting married soon...May 10th!!! Congrats to you!!!
Reply:I think #1.

It compliments your dress beautifully, which is beautiful by the way.
Reply:Hi. I love the second one with your choice of color (lilac). It brings in a little color, which I think is nice on little girls rather than just white.
Reply:I think the first one would look perfect with your gown.
Reply:while the first one may complement yours as some posters have suggested l think the second one with lilac trim would be so sweet! she's a little girl and the second dress would look much nicer on a child - you don't want her to look like to a miniature adult!

congrats on your upcoming marriage. happy wedding!
Reply:The first one is pretty, but looks like it would be uncomfortable for a five year old. The second one is soo cute though, and looks more comfortable. She'll be moving around a lot.
Reply:I like the second one!

but if it doesnt go with the color scheme (like previously stated above) it might not be best...
Reply:#1! it goes really well with your dress....... but if you had a different dress i would go with #2 cuz i think it's prettier
Reply:Your dress is so beautiful!!! I agree with the others, while they are both adorable, the first one really complements yours.

Best wishes!!! :-)
Reply:I like a solid white dress for the flower girls, but that is a matter of personal opinion. My daughter is 9 and going to be a part of our ceremony. None of the junior bridesmaids dresses fit her since she wears plus sizes so she will be wearing the second dress you chose with the apple trim. David's offers plus sizes in flower girl dresses, but not junior bridesmaids. Good luck! And...your dress is BEAUTIFUL! This is mine...

Just thought I would share!
Reply:The seccond one, let her wear the least amount of white possible, this is your wedding and you should be the only one wearing all white

Flower girl Dresses??

Where else can you find flowergirl dresses?

My 2 nieces are my flowergirls and their mom (my sister) can't really afford to spend all the money at once to order the dress from davids bridal, everything has to be paid in full to order.

She has to pay for her maid of honor dress, her husbands tux, my nephews tux for ring bearer, and the 2 flowergirl dresses. We are trying ot help her out with costs, so we are going to pay for my nephews tux, and my brother in laws tux (we will get a free tux from ordering more then 5)

but we can't really afford either to help out anymore with the dresses, my fiance and I are paying for the wedding! (expensive!!) The flower girl dresses are $135 each and the bridesmaid dress $165 ... so she is having to pay over $400 not including tax!! and if we don't order the dresses soon they will not be in intime for the wedding!! :/

So I was thinking of looking for less expensive flowergirl dresses to help out, or maybe layaway!

thanks in advance!

Flower girl Dresses??
Yeah, that's a good idea. Just have her pay for her bridesmaid dress and go look for different flowergirl dresses. Sears, JCPenny, Macy's, ect...all of these dept. stores carry really nice dresses for little girls and are alot less expensive than a bridal shop. Just find ones that will coordinate.
Reply:Like someone said wait for easter dresses to some out, there are also some stores on ebay where they make flower girl/communion dresses and they're cute and cheap (like $20).
Reply:They just need white dresses. Often dresses sold as 'First Communion' dresses aren't as expensive, but are pretty much the same style of dress.

Another option is for her to get them simple, white dresses, and have embellishments put on them (lace, sashes, etc.).

Here are some ideas, some of the coloured dresses are inexpensive, so it depends on your wedding color, too -

This one is very lovely, and only $23

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...

There are other nice ones too -

http://www.target.com/Girls-Dresswear-Cl...
Reply:i'm kind of in the same boat. I've decided to just let the flower girl wear a pretty sundress in royal blue or white... (my colors are royal blue and silver) walmart has CHEAP little girl dresses.... thats always an option.
Reply:I found this site and have had good luck with them.

http://www.flowergirldressforless.com/mm...
Reply:If they are little girls, why don't you consider having the dresses made? Surely, there is someone in your community, or family even, who might have the talent to sew. These dresses should not be that expensive. You can go to any department store such as Penny's. Sears and find beautiful colorful dresses for $60 or less. They are out there, you just have to look. Also, consider David's Bridal - you can rent any of t heir dresses and accessories. If you purchase a dress, you want the litltle ones to be able to wear them again on some nice Sunday morning.
Reply:I'm going to order my flower girl dresses as well as the ring bearer suit from this website.

I really like their return policy and their prices are very reasonable.
Reply:You don't say when your wedding is, but this is what I did.

We bought the girls Easter dresses, and they were perfect. They were $35 each, which was a huge savings over what David's would have been. Ask around to find out what stores in your area have good Easter dresses- the moms you know will have good suggestions (that's how I got the idea) or, check Macy's and other big department stores. I had three flower girls and had no problem getting three of the same.

Easter is early this year so you might be able to find them in stores now. Good luck!
Reply:I had my flower girl wear a simple white dress that she already had.

We tied a little ribbon around it that matched the BM dresses.

It was perfect and didn't cost a thing.
Reply:I would look at Dillards of Macys, they usually have some really cute, formal dresses for little girls. Good luck!
Reply:Well, if you can wait until Easter time she could probably buy white ones at a regular department store for way cheaper than at a wedding store. If you aren't so attached to the traditional, you guys could go together and find ones that you like at the mall for a good price,
Reply:Thats the samething that I was going to say was wait until Easter, but little girls clothing has always been inexpensive. Check walmart, target, kmart for cute dresses!! Even if their kind of plain remember you can be creative and add a sash thats 1 of your wedding colors and plus the shoes and stockings along with the flower girl basket will definitely dress it up! GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:You should try this! I have two junior bridesmaids in my wedding and their dresses were 119 dollars a piece for a little kids dress! But we ended up looking at a few dresses that were going to be discontinued that looked identical to the dresses I chose (the only difference was the newer version had a sash). The discontinued dresses were 39 dollars!! Try going to a bridal store such as David's Bridal and ask if they have any dresses that are being discontinued. Hope that helps.
Reply:The first link is to the flower girl dress that I bought off of ebay for $17 including shipping!! The second was the back up on ebay that was $28 including shipping. If you look on ebay for flower girl dresses you will find incredible deals! I don't know if the tuxedos for the boys count toward your 5 tuxedo discount but if not, ebay also sells tuxedos for great deals. I just bought a tuxedo for a 1 year old and one for an 8 year old and spent $70 including shipping.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c130/I...
Reply:Get their dresses right after Easter this year. Easter is in March so you know the dresses will fit them. They have gorgeous Easter dresses out there and they go on sale after the holiday. Even before the holiday they are not all that expensive. You could probably find something gorgeous from Macys for $35 each.
Reply:Check around at secondhand shops for something that might coordinate. At my husband's best friend's wedding the groom's mom found a GORGEOUS flower girl dress and a tux for the ring bearer and only paid $60 for the pair. Although it's secondhand, chances are it's probably only been worn once for whatever wedding that flower girl was in. It's definitely worth a look. You might look on ebay for the David's Bridal dresses as well---http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/searc...
Reply:You have a couple of options. If you know anyone who sews you can make some very cute inexpensive dresses. There are lots of patterns out there that can help you out. I made mine, as well as my dress.

Assuming that you are looking to buy something you are in luck as Easter is right around the corner. Chances are good that every retailer in the world will have a ton of very frilly little girls dresses. Remember that they do not have to be exactly the same as the bridesmaids. Little girls in lace throwing flowers are always adorable, even if it is a sundress with a very fancy bow. You might want to check with your local retailers and see what they have. I can tell you that I was glad I didn't spend a fortune on it when at 3 she sat down in the mud during pictures :)

Good luck!
Reply:Hey Britt I found a burgundy and ivory dress right at walmart the bottom was velour and the top satin. I got it at wal mart . I have seen alot of gorgeous dresses at tj max and targets. Good luck depending on your colors You may luck out around Valentines and Easter. Also check out your areas Freecycle.org. Register and post a wanted ad for dresses.

How to NOT walk down the aisle?

My fiancee told me that he doesn't want the bridal party (or anyone in the wedding) to walk down the aisle. (we are getting married in a banquet hall - however, he said that this would still be the case if we were marrying at a church). He says it's awkward and not "us." We're going to have a cocktail hour with a champagne toast prior to the ceremony. So, how do we go from the cocktail hour to the ceremony without making it looked too forced or awkward?

Also, I don't think it makes sense for the bridesmaids to use flower bouquets since they'll be mingling and I don't want them to have to carry their bouquets during the cocktail hour. They could leave them at the ceremony site, but they'd really only be using them for 10 minutes or so. I'm thinking they could wear corsages instead. Would this look okay? And would I still use a bouquet? Please keep in mind that we are having a fairly untraditional wedding.

How to NOT walk down the aisle?
I'd choose a particular song that would signal the wedding is starting. Then everyone just heads to what part of the room you're having the ceremony in. I think that corsages are just fine - if they do the wrist ones, they could hold their hands so it looks bouquet like during the wedding. You could do the same or have a bouquet that you also use as a wedding centerpiece on your table (I did that). Congrats!
Reply:http://www.ultimatewedding.com...

lots of songs to choose! Good luck! Report It

Reply:How about just 1 long stemmed rose for you attendents to hold. Cheaper then bouquets and corsages. Or have them old long candles during the ceremony. I would not do the bouquet if I were you since you are not walking down and aisle.
Reply:As a wedding consultant, I say do what ever you want. That's the whole point of "your" wedding. Make it "YOU". If you want coursages, then I say go for it, but don't make them too large that they take a way from the dress. As far as how to make a smooth transition, I can't offer help with that without seeing the hall and how it will be layed out. There is no need for them to have to walk down the aisle though. Just remember that your guest will want you and your fiance to be the center of attention, as far as the bridesmaids they are just for decoration. So be creative and do it your way.
Reply:What about doing like the opera %26amp; ballet %26amp; flashing the lights when it's time? (it's quiet) Then everyone just gathers at the arch thingy? And don't waste the $$$ on flowers for a short ceremony - more booze!
Reply:If everyone would be standing anyway, just have the minister or justice announce for everyone to gather round for the ceremony. In fact, the person leading the final toast before the wedding ceremony could throw that in as his closing remarks.

As for the flowers, it's your day, so if you don't want the bridesmaids to carry bouquets, then don't.I don't think I'd do corsages as traditionally, these are worn by the mothers of the bride and groom. But you could do wrist corsages and maybe have them cross their hands during the ceremony to give the appearance of bouquets.
Reply:I wouldn't worry at all about the flowers then. Just have flowers around where you are marrying. I dont think that you will look awkward when you take your vows. Dont know the venue so it is hard to say . Just still have a rehearsal so you can work something less laa dee daa out together
Reply:in lieu of the bridesmaids carrying flowers, why not have them take candles from the coctail hour and have them placed at the entrance to the actual ceremony? Think of it as lighting your way or something? Good luck and Congrats!
Reply:This sounds fairly confusing to me lol but you could have the bridesmaids and groomsmen introduced like a starting lineup at a sporting event and they could emerge from the crowd to wherever you want them to stand and the two of you could be the coaches or star players.

(this is a grooms cake that weve considered making a bridal cake just bc it looks ssoooo delciious!!!) http://www.betterbatterbakery.com/grfx/g...

http://www.creativecakes.com/gallery/cre...

the flowers we have chosen r red roses (of course) and calla lilies. with the exception of the bridesmaids who will b wearing simple black satin gowns and carry mainly white roses w/ red for a splash of color. we also decided to use the joined hearts as a theme

Opinions plz!!! were torn help us decide!?
The first cake looks absolutely beautiful. I love it. As for the other two, that first one looks delicous. :D
Reply:They are all pretty, I like the last one and the first. Strawberries are nice, too! Whichever you do, be VERY careful with using black icing. It stains your teeth and lips so you'll look like Morticia Adams meets the bride from Deliverance for the cake photo ops!
Reply:The first and last wedding cake looked beautiful. And the first groom's cake looks delicious.
Reply:I really like the first one the most ... it is simple, yet elegant and you could easily incorporate a little black into the design if you wanted to.
Reply:The first cake looks very classy. You can add black accents by providing black napkins and requesting that the caterer present the cake on a black surface (marble, glass).

Also, adding black candy on red bowls around the cake may add fun and impact. But. no matter what, remember not to sweat the small stuff.

Congratulations!
Reply:I love the cake from Cinderella cakes. Its beautiful.I like the idea of that LilChevy had to do a black ribbon so it will have all the colors.I absolutely love that first grooms cake..Yum!!Makes me want some!!Congrats %26amp; Good luck on your descision!!
Reply:I like the first and the last two. The first one is beautiful, the 4th looks extremely yummy, and the fifth is cute and goes with your colors wonderfully
Reply:The first cake you have listed I love and would do a black satin band around each layer to match the maids (either a ribbion or fondant). I think that the rest of the 3 cakes look a littel tacky but the first one is elegant and looks expensive. The red roses with perals just makes it POP. As for the other two I like the chocolate covered strawberrys it looks so good.
Reply:They all look beautiful. I liked the 1st one with the roses.

My girlfriend was married in the Catholic Church in Joliet, Il about 10 yrs ago and her cake was white and the top was full of strawberries. It was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. She was married 3 days after Christmas and the church was decked out in red poinsetta's. She had the pews ends decked out with big red and white ribbons. If I ever get married, I want a wedding just like hers.
Reply:You have a lot of fondant cakes (the really smooth sides). They taste TERRIBLE despite looking so classy. I would go with one of the ones without fondant.
Reply:Oooohhh! All of your choices look so yummy (I'm training for a marathon right now so EVERYTHING looks yummy!) but I think I like the first pic for your wedding cake. It's classy but also different. As for the grooms cake, I've gotta go with the first pic with the strawberries! It looks awesome!

Good luck on your big day!
Reply:i lie the first one on your choices and the second one the groom's
Reply:My am also using black with red accents! The first cake with the red roses is beautiful! It's classic and elegant.
Reply:I really like the cinderella cake which you could tie in black ribbon with the red but i also like the creative cake one also with the red hearts you could could put black ribbon around the layers of this cake also
Reply:I like the cake with the chocolate covered strawberries.. omg it looks soooo yummy...
Reply:all the cakes look gorgoeous!

but i really like the 1st one.

its absoultley breathe-taking.
Reply:I like the first, third, and last ones the best. The first would be good if you're wanting a more simplistic/casual wedding without all the frills and whatnot. The third one I like alot too, but it's more elegant for a more fancy wedding. The last one I really like but I think the layers should be taller. On that one, you could make the dots in between the hearts black to go with your theme. Hope I helped!

Good luck!
Reply:My choices are definitely the one from www.cinderellacakes.com and the 1st groom cake from betterbatterbakery.com Damn they look good!!!

The 2nd novelty cake looks sort of tacky, and the first one is just too plain, along with the 2nd groom cake. Cake is cake though. They'll all taste good no matter which ones you decide to go with :)
Reply:i like the third one but have the scroll work done in black.
Reply:I love the first cake with the roses that seperate the tiers, and I like the chocolate covered strawberry cake-kind looks messy like a man is!
Reply:The first cake with the roses is best. The second one is not my style at all and the third one looks very 1980's. I don't like the first grooms cake. It looks like a big mess, not pretty at all. The second one is kind of boring and looks homemade, not something you want when you are paying so much. The cake is the most photographed thing at a wedding so it should be pretty and the one with the strawberries might taste great but when people look at the pictures 5 years from now they will only remember that it was ugly.
Reply:the first one is really pretty andI agree with the poster that said you could use black accents (napkins, serving plate, etc).

I also like the one from Cinderella Cakes... You could easily add on the top and bottom layers a thin black ribbon, then on the middle layer a black ribbon maybe with a thin red (Don't know how well the red would stand out)...

the one with strawberries looks good but very seasonal!

What you're doing here is MAKING ME HUNGRY!!

Congrats and good luck.
Reply:I was LOL at the 2nd cake. Looks like voodoo. :-D

I definitely prefer the one with the chocolate and the strawberries. Looks delicious!
Reply:The first one is gorgeous. Simple yet elegant. If you wanted something black on it, you could get a black ribbon and tie a piece around each tier.

The second one is cute too but not as formal as the first. I don't like the little marshmallow things and lollies sitting on each tier, that looks a bit much. I'm not sure how you might add black to it. I think it looks fine without it.

Sorry I don't like the third one at all. I think it is ugly, too over the top and tacky.

Don't like the fourth or first groom's cake either.

I like the last cake. It is very nice. You could put some calla lilies on the top to jazz it up a bit.

It depends on what look you are going for. For a formal wedding, the first would be best. For a more relaxed wedding, the second or last would suit.
Reply:Wedding cakes should be traditional and/or classy to give the best impression, so I would highly recommend either the first or the third one. But then again the final desition is solely yours.

Best of luck, and congratulations!
Reply:The first cake is the best.
Reply:I personally like the first cake with the swirls from the cinderella cake in black. I also really like the betterbatter cake. I'm at weddings every weekend and there always seems to be the same white cake just decorated differently. I love the idea of the betterbattter cake for the wedding cake. If you just have to go with the standard white cake then stick with the first novelty cake with the black swirls from the cinderella cake.

Pick one that will taste great and look better in the wedding album
Reply:I am a cake decorator (side job) and I really like the idea of the first cake (http://www.novelty-cakes.net/i/c/red_ros... but adding the heart and scroll work of the third cake (http://www.cinderellacakes.com/images/we... but using black icing rather than white so it would be a white cake with black detail and red roses. Hope this gives you some ideas and good luck!
Reply:A nice looking cake is totally overrated. The point of a cake is to eat it. The strawberry one looks good, but what you want to do is taste test before you make a decision on cakes. Food is not something choose over the internet.

Freshroses.com?

Has anyone used freshroses.com? They have great deals and I got the recommendation out of Bridal Bargains (A book EVERY bride should own, it's great!).

Anyhow, I have a friend who does flowers and will do them for me as a wedding gift if I order them.

Anyone?

Thanks :)

Freshroses.com?
I recommend Bridal Bargains too! Anyways I almost went with freshroses, but went with globalrose.com instead. This does not answer your question, but I DO NOT recommend them. They sent it to my billing address which was in Arkansas instead of where I was having my wedding (California). I am telling you this because it was a major set back in my wedding sense I order ALL of my flowers wholesale and planned on doing all my arrangements myself. Consider this in the equation. Luckily I it worked out. Freshroses looks legit though. Congrats.
Reply:you should let me knwo if they are good
Reply:Never heard of it. I always use Hallmark.
Reply:I think it is a good idea if your friend is either trained or a professional if not Costco is your best bet. Their packages come arranged and are preiced reasonably for $429 you get:

1 Bridal bouquet

2 Brides Maid bouquets

1 Toss Away bouquet

6 Corsages

6 Attendant boutonnieres

3 Centerpieces (vases not included)

1 Rose Petal bud

Reply:One of my flower girls wore this dress:

http://www.flowergirldressforless.com/mm...

It was A LOT cuter in person. I wish you could see it... :-( The bottom is done in layered organza-like fabric shaped like long leaves. And my seamstress took extra fabric from the bridesmaids' dresses and made the flowered "belt" out of that. (The flowergirl dress was white.)

AND: both my flower girls wore their dresses again. $75 is still a lot to spend on a dress, so I was happy to see pictures of them wearing the dresses at formal dinners and again on Easter!
Reply:There are lots of lovely ones here -

Reply:Perfect timing for this question. My flower girls purchased their dresses around Easter time...when all of the area department stores had their pretty white dresses out!!! We got all three flower girl dresses at JCPenney for super cheap. We had a 2 year old that we put in a cute lavender frilly Easter dress for like $25!!! The other girls were around $50-80 because they were older (7 and 10).

Go to your local department store - Sears, JCPenney, Kohl's, etc - and look for Easter dresses or even First Communion Dresses. Since she is 2 years old, you might be able to find something under Christening Gowns!

I agree that you shouldn't spend much on her dress. Be sure to buy a size up in case she grows a bit between now and the wedding!
Reply:I ordered my flowergirl dress and the ring bearer tux from the site below. They were beautiful and fit great and paid $60.
Reply:try Target.com. They have some very nice dresses for little girls at very, very reasonable prices.

Reply:try dillards they have some beautiful dresses. I totally understand after all she is 2 more than likely the dress will not be sellable when done with it.. go cheaper.. try dillards they really have great options.
Reply:How about checking your local department stores and children's clothing stores. We're in the time of year for the frilly spring "Easter" type dresses to be on the racks.
Reply:LOVE your dress and can say first hand it's beautiful in person. One of my best friends wore it last summer in her wedding.

You don't need to shop for a 'flower girl dress' look for an easter dress that's on sale. And if you get a dress that's not designed for a wedding specifically she might beable to wear it again. Remember though that white on toddlers tends to stain quickly.
Reply:I got a dress for my Gdaughter on Saturday for $25.00 it included shipping... from ebay.

They had several to choose from...
Reply:My flower girl ended up getting her dress at Ross. They just went with the colors of the bridesmaid dresses. I do know that sometimes the bridal shops put their flower girl dresses on sale. We almost got her one of those. It was still $50. And you take them as is. It all depends o what you want her in. I personally thought it was crazy to spend that much on a dress so I told them whatever they could afford in the color of my bridesmaids dresses. Good luck!
Reply:NOt trying to be mean or rude but you're spending 600 dollars on your dress and you're only going to wear it once! Besides, when you're done with both dresses you can sell them on ebay and get some of the money back.
