Do you have experience with DIY bouquets?

We decided to go with silks for the bouquets %26amp; will DIY them ~ but am having a problem with the shape

I really like this ~ my flowers/colors are different, but this is the shape I am going for

It's not working when I try to put it together. I considered buying one of these, http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product...

Do you have experience with DIY bouquets?
I had no problem with the foam holder. It worked great for me. I still have it, and the flowers are still in place almost 4 years later :)

Reply:When youre arranging the bouqet in your hand, place the flowers in your hand at an angle. For example the petals are pointing up and left, and the bottom of the stem is pointing down and right. After you place each flower, twist the entire bouquet clockwise and do the same thing. Making sure you use your filler flowers in between. It is never gonna work if you are doing it where the flowers are straight up and down.

Also, when using silk flowers, if the goal is to have them look real, make sure you use colors that the flower actually comes in. There is nothing worse than seeing silk flowers and knowing they are silk because of the wild colors. Also, wrap the inside of your vases with a ti leaf or any other large leaf to cover the fact that there will be no water.

For example:

Reply:I made my own flowers, and all of the bridesmaids flowers. But I was lucky and went to Michaels and found them already put together and they were the perfect color. I just bought a few extra bouquets to put more flowers in each one to make them look better and did the wrapping around the stems. Are the flowers you bought long stemmed like the first picture? If not you might want to buy something to make it work.
Reply:The purchased form is nice and then the stems will look like real flowers.

If you leave enough of a "stem" to push into the foam it should stay put. A bouquet is something you just hold not throw around alot so I think it would stay ok. Of course to be doubly sure you could dip each piece in some white elmers or craft glue before you poke it into the foam. When the glue dries it should really hold it tight.

best wishes................
Reply:I made mine (sorry, no picture because no working digital camera right now) without the foam holder, and got it round by using floral tape to secure only one stem at a time.

But the foam should be fine; as others have said, that's what it's made for.
Reply:These are the ones I did for our wedding

I haven't ever used the flower holder you want to use so I couldn't tell you if it helps but I say maybe buy one and try it, if it works buy more to do the rest.

Try this video... Of course adjust it to artificial flowers so you don't have to worry about the soaking in water and all that.

Reply:the foam should be fine...... it's made for putting the flowers in it so they won't fall out...... if you are that worried use hot glue.... then they won't go anywhere..... it would be easier if you had long stems then you could just wrap the stems with a ribbon..... then you know they won't fall apart!
Reply:I did real flowers
