Ever seen a simple bride's bouquet?

my wedding is in january 09 and my colors are azaela (davids bridal pink) and silver accents. i want my bouquet to have 5 pink calla lillies and i want my m.o.h. and bridesmaids to carry single white calla lillies. is this too simple? or is elegant enough to look really pretty? this is what i imagine and i want to know if anyone has seen weddings with flowers this simple. thanks!

Ever seen a simple bride's bouquet?
I was in a wedding that did just what you're suggesting. There were about 8-10 BM. We each carried one calla lilly with a ribbon wrapped around the stem. At the reception there was a large vase near the entrance for us to place them in. It all depends on what you want. This is your day after all. I think it could be very classy if done right.
Reply:I think it is elegant in its simplicity. So many weddings today are over-the-top, with people trying to outdo one another. Sometimes seeing way too many flowers in the wedding party can look really overblown and showy. I think it will look lovely with each bridesmaid holding a single calla lily, and with your bouquet to just have five pink ones. How about your venue? Are you doing it outdoors in a garden setting? If so, there will be plenty of natural floral ambience, and you wouldn't want to overdo the flowers in that case. Sounds great to me. Best of luck!
Reply:Yes, I have seen the simple bouquets, and they look beautiful and elegant. I think that you carrying the calla's will look beautiful. For the single calla bouquets for your bridesmaids I would consider adding some small stephanosis flowers at the end...just to give it some bulk. Maybe something like this.

I think that simple is very elegant and beautiful. I think it will all look lovely together.
Reply:Iv never seen bridesmaids carry a sing flower down the isle but Iv been thinking about the exact same thing. I was thinking either a Lilly or a rose

I think less is more and it looks so beautiful (in my mind)

I imagine them having long flowing ribbons attached to add elegance

I'm going to have white calla Lillie's with a long white ribbon

heres some in pink for ya;

Reply:Not at all...when I re-married my bouquet was a simple long stemmed bundle of white callas and asian star lillies in autumn colors ( I married the last day in Sept) with a few mini-cat-tails tucked in....the flowers were left long stemmed and bundled together, the stems then wrapped 'round with a ribbon that matched my outfit......

...as far as your maids' I would have them carry a simple bundle of three callas........one left a little longer than the other two.....if the stems are long enough they can carry the bundle resting along the inner part of one arm with the ribbon ends trailing over....my aunt who married 44 years ago did that with roses....her girls wore white a-line dresses with red sashes and bolero tops, red mini pillbox hats with a bit of red veiling, and carried a bundle of three long stemed red roses.....for a January wedding....it was stunning.
Reply:I LOVE the idea! It's so pretty and it's not over the top! I see alot of people doing such over the top flowers now days!

My suggestion is to go a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael's Crafts. And play around with the different types of flowers. Bring your MOH and ask her for suggestions. When you see someone holding it, your mind may change. Bring a color swatch from davids bridal too to make colors. You may be thinking what the point, but this will help!

I love the idea! It's so simple and it will bring alot of elegance to your wedding. Are you wanting silk or real flowers. If it's silk and depending on how many girls you have standing up, this may be a way to cut costs too..

Have fun with this. It's such a great idea that you don't see much now days! Go for it!
Reply:I'm not trying to dissuade you from doing what you want but I had a bouquet of 18 black calla lilies (all colored calla lilies are miniature) and I was disappointed with the size. I thought it would be so much bigger. This is the best pic I can find that shows the size.

The single white calla lily (assuming you get regular sized) will be much larger than your 5 colored calla lilies. And if you did mini while calla lilies, I don't think the stems would be strong enough for them to just hold one.
Reply:I know thses are white but u can def substitute pink ones

Reply:i think it would be great. i have seen it on who wedding is it anyway and it looked great. i would just have a simple bow. this is your wedding do what you imagine and do things a little different. but i thank this is a great idea. good luck
Reply:I think it sounds great! And I have heard of weddings where the bridesmaids carried only one flower. Do what you want so that you'll love it. You might be disappointed and regret it if you don't follow what you want and llisten to someone else instead.
Reply:yes, thats perfectly finee! for my wedding roses are going to be my flower of choice, and my bridesmaid and maid of honor are going to each carry a single long stemmed white rose. it looks fantastic in pictures.
Reply:I personally think it would be a shame to give the BMs only one stem each. How about they have three and you have 5, or they have 5 and you have 10. I know callas are quite pricey though. If you bind them with ribbon they will look fantastic.
Reply:You can talk to your flower place.. and they can probably make you a nice bouqet..

I'm having mine made custom.. with some lilacs, sunflowers, and gerber daisies...

I think your bouqet sounds great
Reply:It's def. elegant enough. Calla lillies are very elegant flowers and will make it really pretty.
Reply:Simple = Elegant.

I seen a wedding where the BMs just had one single flower - it was beautiful ;)

Not to mention it saved the bride a ton of money.
Reply:Personally, I think the simpler the more elegant. I think you are right on!
Reply:I think a single one is too simple..maybe if they each carry about 3 or 4.
