Wedding decorations: has anyone ever done this before?

I'm thinking of not using ANY flowers at my wedding at all, but I don't know what else to use for centerpieces, the bridal table and in the chapel. We are going to have a rustic wedding. Where can I look for decorations other than the usual flower centerpieces etc. The main colors are chocolate brown and latte. So if there is anyone who has any "rustic" ideas, please let me know....thanks:)

Wedding decorations: has anyone ever done this before?
You are smart! You will save yourself a lot of money by not using flowers - and I love the concept - it's so original and cool!

You could create your own wreaths for each table centerpiece....if you like wine, you could make them with grapes and ivy....if you like autumn they could have leaves on them....if you go to an art supply store like Michaels, there are tons of ideas in there.

But I think wreaths with candles in the center would be absolutely gorgeous.

Another idea is to use antique lanterns - this would be very rustic and beautiful....and the lighting would be just perfect to illuminate the tables and the room in an elegant, simple way.
Reply:I would find some chocolate brown pillar candles and tie bow with natural colered rafia around them. it would look kind of "rustic chique" It would also coordinate with your colors. I worked for a florist for several years and have recently started a freelance wedding flower business, we used rafia on lots of things to give it the rustic look, and you could use burlap as your overlays or as the actuall tablecloths and I think it would be really nice, and fit with your theme! I am here to tell you, some brides just waste money on flowers, some is nice but it gets thrown away in a couple hours anyway, so I think you are being very smart.
Reply:I'm getting married in Sept. and also plan not to use ANY flowers except for my "bouquet". Instead of the traditional one I am buying some flowers I like at the grocery store that morning and my daughters are taking care of giving one to each of the female close relatives or friends (1 dozen max). They will hand me one as I walk down the asile (a fishing pier actually.

Instead I am using Ebay for everything from invites to decor.

You can find everything there and get all sorts of ideas as to how to decorate!
Reply:Well you could use balloons but i dont think that will fit with the rustic theme.

Another option is using metal art, you could have a different piece on each table. For example if they are animals you could then have your tables named the animal instead of a table number if you know what i mean.

Another idea is just candles, i think that would look nice %26amp; you can get so many different candles these days that im sure you would find something that really sets the tables off.

Good luck
Reply:I was the MOH in my cousin's wedding and the only flowers she had was the bouquets.

She did candles as centerpieces. They were 3 candles, all different heights, very pretty.

I would recommend doing a few small candles for the bridal table, as a romantic look. You can buy chocolate or off-white candles.

I can't think of anything for the chapel...sorry.
Reply:Go to a craft store like Michaels---you can use large vases of cattails like you see in fields at the wedding itself, with pieces of like wheat and they have like driftwood pieces that you could spice up, maybe an arrangement of some cool looking rocks for centerpieces. Good luck!
Reply:If you're going with rustic a candelabra on the tables will do the trick. You could even go as far as to wrap fake garlands of ivy or gardenias around the bottom of them. They'd be a statement in themselves.
Reply:Big natural pinecones. Greenery (small branches of cedar or pine will smell nice). Arrangements of green leaves with vines. You can make beautiful trimmings with no flowers at all if you're artistic and crafty. I can't do anything like this and made it look nice, but I know people who can make two leaves and a twig into something beautiful
Reply:have you thought of going through some second hand shops and picking up candle holders and what not. you can find some really interesting pieces probably that you would never use again but add a few candles and it could make it spectacular
Reply:Bye Chocolate fountains for the centers of the tables and put some fresh fruit around it that is in a really pretty type of platter.

what about something like these?
Reply:you could take a vase and put pine cones and pine needles in it and then put one of those fake candles..it not only gives a nice smell it is cute too..
Reply:You can use candles and Terra cotta pots with ivy or something like that.
Reply:you could always buy the glass bowls with floating candles...
Reply:I love using theknot.com. There are always tons of ideas for weddings.
