What is a good idea for an engagement present?

My sister got engaged last night and she asked me to be her maid of honor! She's 22 and I'm 18, and she is my best friend. She's coming over tonight to tell my dad, and I want to have something to give her. I was thinking about getting her favorite flowers, and a few bridal magazines... Not so much as an engagement present, but just because? Is there anything else I could get her?

What is a good idea for an engagement present?
Maybe a card file. It helps to plan the wedding.

Instead of getting some bridal magazines off the stand, why not get a subscription to the magazine. I was able to get 2 (Brides Magazine and Modern Bride) for the price of one using an online discount.
Reply:Bridal planning guide. They have them at most book stores and some come with a CD rom. That way she can start finding out what she should be doing right away. Also, a great gift later on is a name changing kit. I loved it.
Reply:When there is a special couple in my life, I like to purchase them their toasting glasses. It's my favoite gift to give.

Reply:The magazine idea is great. Also, start now taking photos to put in an album for her, keep up with the important events and give this to her after the honeymooon.
Reply:if you go to a book store they have those wedding planner books (not too expensive, between $15 -$30)... they are always helpful. You can get her a gift like a bride to be shirt...

Reply:Don't rush it - get her the bridal magazines and flowers as a special, sweet gesture. Then, take some time and really think about something you'd like to give her as an engagement gift.





I would give her a wedding album or scrapbook. You could try making a scrapbook of your own that shows their whole dating life. I'm sure she'd love that b/c it takes alot of time and money. Or you could give her a wedding planner. Also, a day at the spa...not now but for when she's SUPER stressed. :)
