Bridal bouquets and their cost?

Please don't think I'm a cheapstake, we're on a budget. I did my first research ever on the cost of the bridal party's bouquets...and I was told 100-150 for the bride's boquet, and 65 or so for each bridesmaid....to me that nuts!! A crazy amount to pay for flowers. Has anyone ever ran into budget problems that agrees that we shouldn't spend so much on flowers for just ONE day? I know it's my wedding day but when I look back I'll being remembering the excitement of celebrating my love for my husband, not how luxorious my flowers were. p.s. I don't want fake flowers.

Bridal bouquets and their cost?
I'm engaged and I think the price is crazy too! It doesn't make sense to me either!! You could consider making your own bouquets. We did that for my friend's wedding and it was fun and personal! She picked up some flowers from a grocery store (you can try Kroger, Sam's club, Randalls or any other store) and we used some green flower tape to tape the bottom. Then we used some white ribbon and straight pins to cover the green tape. You couldn't tell they were made by amatures and they were way cheaper!

Also, I know you mentioned you didn't want fake flowers, but I am considering silk flowers. Those look very close to real! And you could keep them, if you so desired. Good luck!
Reply:The cost of the bouquets totally depends upon what flowers you have in them. I had a hand tied European bouquet, with a big variety of flowers - some roses, an orchid, mums, carnations, alstromeria, and others - and it was really big, was 100. Bridesmaids were smaller versions and were 60.

But you can find bouquets of real flowers much less expensive, yet totally beautiful! Just shop around.

Reply:instead of going through a florist, check flower marts in your area that sell them wholesale. often the sellers make arrangements that cost far less than the florist shops, or consider a talented, craftwise friend who can make tthe arrangements for you. also, think about a single long stem flower for your bridesmaids to carry. the lily is a hearty flower as is the carnation (inexpensive too), roses are beautiful, but delicate.

best wishes.
Reply:I know you said you don't want fake flowers, but that's what I am doing b/c we are on a budget and also I would like to keep them forever and have them look amazing forever as well.

Real flowers do not keep their beautiful color after they are hung and dried even, so you might want to look into fake ones if not for the prices at least for the value that they will hold after the wedding.
Reply:Girl I'm in the same boat. I'm having a small wedding(only 25 adults and 10 kids) and I'm on a small budget. Luckly I live 3 hours from Vegas and got a great package deal at a beautiful casino that includes my flowers and the bridesmaids. You might want to cut the bridesmaids flowers down to a single rose with greenary and babiesbreath. That helped mine drop from $35 each to $10 each. I've been a bridesmaid before and trust me...we don't care about the flowers! You should splurge on yours but give a single flower to the gals or maybe a coursage.
Reply:This sounds pretty reasonable to me and it often depends on the size and style of bouquet. i`m having a teardrop bouquet, a top table display, 3 tier cake decorations, 4 small table displays, a corsage and 8 button holes for £300. But £100 - £150 for a brides bouquet is about right, so is the £65 per small bouquet. Why not have the bridesmaids carry hand tied bouquets which should be cheaper, or a single flower, Call lily or rose.
Reply:To be honest, I am on a budget and I knew that the flowers would be expensive but I also wanted to keep the costs down a bit.

I budgeted $100 for the brides bouquet and $50 each for the bridesmaids. Part of the cost is the flowers, but the rest of the charge is for the work %26amp; man-power that goes into making the bouquet ( I have a cousin who used to work at a florist making arrangements and there is work that goes into it ).

I plan to interview a couple florists to see what they can give me and I plan on not telling them my budget $$s, just telling them I want it to be "nice but also cost-conscious" and seeing what they come up with.

One of my prefered flower choices is carnations because they are relatively cheap, available year round, easy to work with, hold up well, are very fully so fewer flowers to make a nice sized bouquet and available in the two colors I want - red %26amp; white.

Just take your preferences to the florist along with your allowed budget.

A great cost cutter is to send your BM's down the aisle with a single flower (cala lillies or roses are great for this).
Reply:You can get just as beautiful of a bouquet flowers from your neighborhood grocery (World foods/Winn Dixie/Publix etc...)as you can get from an expensive florist...there are actually trained florist in the groceries w/flower departments. Take a picture of what you want and give it a try...they do my girls hand held/ribbon wrapped/ short stem bouquets every year for their recitals and they are beautiful...and cheap!!! They will also do your boutonnieres for the men...you will be surprised!!!

Best Wishes!
Reply:i got married last june and, for me, the flowers were very important. i am a huge fan of roses, so my bouquet consisted of red, hot pink, orange, and yellow roses...i believe it cost somewhere around $300.00.....BUT if flowers are not a priority for you then you have many options...shop around and explain to the florist what your budget is and they should accomodate you!

congrats and good luck!
Reply:Depending on when your wedding date is, there are lots of alternatives to expensive flowers or silks (which you may want to investigate before completely ruling them out... there are some very real looking silks out there and you wouldnt have to worry about wilting).

Do you have a local farmers market nearby? You could buy your flowers there and make your own bouquets. Or you could cut your own flowers if you have a flower garden. Another option is to buy your flowers in bulk somewhere like Sam's Club (check them carefully before making your purchase, these flowers tend to be a few days old as they have to ship them) and make your own bouquets that way. Other options are to limit the bouquets the bridesmaids carry, sometimes less is more... a single stem per bridesmaid, perhaps each stem a different color to represent something, could be much more profound than the cookie cutter bridemaid's bouquets.
Reply:Do simple like...

Lilies and wrap the stems with a pretty ribbon.

or

Go to a farmers market and get flowers and make your own bouquets.

or

Costco has nice flowers

Happy planning!
Reply:honestly sweetheart, florist charge you on average three times was it costs them to make, I'm not pulling this out of my butt, I'm a student florist

My suggestion is make your own, I know this sounds scarry but it is truly easy! Here's a website to help

http://www.theknot.com/ch_article.html?O...

You can also look on youtube for videos on how to make different types of bouquets,

Now go the samsclub.com or costco

and look under floral, you can order in bulk of lik 100 or 150 for about one hundred dollars for roses, and way cheaper for other flowers, depending on the size you want to make your bouquets and one hundered roses, can make your bouquet, and 2-4 bridesmaids,

I would even suggest the night before your wedding having you bridesmaids spend the night and have a bouquet making party, It would be great bonding time and you can talk about the wedding and what married life will be like.

Also Boutineers are really easy to make so even if you don't make the bouquets I would make those. You can find that on youtube as well.

Hope this helps!

P.S. When you order from Sams or Costco its just like a regular floral delivery you can pick the day and time.
Reply:Awesome question!!!

I honestly suggest finding a florist in your area and making an appointment. Tell them flat out that you have a budget. You tell them the colors, and they can tell you what flowers are the cheap flowers that match those colors. My bouquet is large and cascading and will cost about 150$ but I chose specific flowers.

As for the bridal bouquets, ask if your bridesmaids can pay for theirs individually if you cant get them cheap enough...try limit theirs as well...

I think you'll be able to work something out, don't worry...and make an appointment!
