Is it tacky to wear a bridal tiara?

I am having trouble deciding whether to go with a tiara or flowers...is a tiara too tacky?

Is it tacky to wear a bridal tiara?
it depends on how you wear the tiara... I think there are some tips on theknot.com or bridal magazines on how to wear your tiara so you don;t end up looking like youre having your quinceanera or a princess wannabe...

I think they're supposed to be worn towards the back of your head... not towards the front...

Reply:With your hair so short I would be concerned about the combs that usually hold the tiara's on not having enough hair to 'bite' in to. I would definitely try some that you like on before making your mind up, as well as the flowers and consider the jeweled headband as an option too. It may sound silly but to get the idea of what a wreath of flowers would look like on you, go to a store that sells silk flowers and get a 'candle ring'. It may not be exact, but you get the idea.

As for it being tacky - one persons definition of tacky is anothers idea of beautiful. Don't let anyone elses ideas define who you are or what you want on your wedding day.

Just because I may not like something does not mean it is 'tacky'.
Reply:If your hair is 1/4" long, technically your bald. Since I have no idea whether you are that way by choice, or due to chemotherapy, let me just say this.

It is so unusual to be a woman and have hair that short, that nobody will notice either your tiara or your flowers and neither of them will look anything other than unusual because of your hairstyle.

Also, there's no possible way either of them will stay affixed to that. I'd suggest growing your hair, or if you can't, due to chemotherapy, I'd get a beautiful wig, even a short style wig if you prefer.
Reply:I hate tiaras, personally, because I have no inclination to walk around looking like a character in a Disney movie or a prom queen. I tend to think they're kind of ridiculous. But my opinion is far from being widely held.

My best friend has very short hair as well and wore a small jeweled headband in her recent wedding. It was quite attractive. She tried flowers but they were much too much, as her mother said. She has a very small face. They may well look fantastic on you.

Another thing that looked great was a 1910s style veil. I forget what they're called, but they're essentially a big square of lace with a brooch or flowers at the back. The veil fits like a soft cap on the head and then cascades down the back, so it worked much better than anything more modern that requires combs to attach. The veil was great but didn't go well with her dress, so she decided against it. Anyway, that's something to consider if you haven't tossed out the idea of a veil altogether.

Good luck.
Reply:I've never thought a tiara looks tacky. I'd love to wear a tiara. Your wedding day is pretty much the only occasion where you can wear a tiara and get away with it. I'd actually say that flowers look more tacky. Tiaras are not tacky in my opinion. They will make you feel like a princess

go for it and good luck on your special day--x
Reply:I don't think so! I think I might want to wear one when I get married. But it does depend on theshpe of your face and the hairstyle you are wearing.

Tiaras can work with really short hair! Here are a few pictures of tiara hairstyles:

Hope this helps!!!

P.S. Oh, and about the flowers? That could work, too. I think with short hair, a tiara would be better. But you could find a tiara that looks like it has flowers in it. For example:

I hope you have a great wedding and I wish you and your fiance a lifetime of happiness!
Reply:I am wearing a tiara in my wedding this September. I am 23, so I think that I am still young enough to pull it off. I kinda have a princess complex too though. I would never want flowers in my hair, that's something I associate with older brides. It's just a generation thing I think.
Reply:I was totally against the tiara thing, but I found something similar. Buy a crystal head band. It has the same beauty without the stuck-up-ness of a tiara. They sell them at David's Bridal for $70+ or you can get one at Claire's Accessories for $12!!
Reply:I wore a tiara but it was a very simple one that went very well with my dress. It looked more like a head band than a tiara. It is completely up to you. I would try on several with your dress maybe after you do a practice run with your hair to see how it would look.
Reply:Only in the sense that tiaras have been so incredibly overdone the last couple of years along with strapless ballgowns...the "princess look". Have you looked at buying or making a headband? I made one using a plain metal toothed headband and attaching crystals and pearls with wire on to it, like a spray of them. It looked so pretty! My hair's not much past my ears...a jeweled or flowered comb would be pretty, too!

Reply:i was watching the glamour magazines dos and donts of weddings yesterday, and they said tiaras are tacky...

but i wore one at my wedding and it made me feel like a princess, so who cares if they say it's tacky all that matters is if you like it
Reply:i don't think its tacky to wear a tiara. i wore one at my wedding- it was my day to feel like a princess!

i also think that flower look nice. my flowergirl wore flowers in her hair.

it really depends on the look you are going for...
Reply:Tiaras are beautiful, even with short hair so that shouldnt be a worry! If you get one that is not too tall, but just gives a bit of sparkle from your hair when in the sun etc it should look lovely!
Reply:I would do fresh flowers.(My sister did that for her wedding.)

No, it isn't tacky to wear a bridal tiara.

When you find one that you like post a picture of it(?).
Reply:No =] I'm doing my hair like this

Reply:No, as long as it's not very high or ornate like Miss America.

A lovely one attached to a veil looks really nice - but of course it depends upon if it complements the wedding gown or not.
Reply:If your wedding is months away, grow your hair...Also, see how the tiara looks. That is the only way you will be able to tell.
Reply:I think it depends on your personality and your age. Maybe you can pull it off!

I couldnt pull off a tiara, nor would I want to. But thats just me.
Reply:I wore a simple tiara and it was kind of hidden in my hair, so I don't think it looked tacky. But flowers sound cute though.
Reply:A tiara is definately more modern than flowers, My sister and I both had tiaras and you can get them in all sorts of designs and colours to suit your dress.
Reply:I personally think they only look okay on young brides (under 25). Any older and I always think it looks a little weird. Not sure why.
Reply:No. I am personally not a fan but I don't think they could be considered "tacky".
Reply:i personally dont like them but i dont think they are tacky either. i am wearing a flower in my hair, not too into the princess thing.
Reply:You might consider combining the two. I think either one or that would be better than a veil
Reply:I wore both a tiara and a veil and liked how it turned out.
Reply:I don't think it's tacky. Lot's of people wear tiaras on their wedding day.
Reply:I think a tiera is beautiful..if it looks good with your dress wear it ! Do what suits you....Congradulations
