Davids Bridal? Good or bad?

I already bought my wedding gown, brides maids and flower girl dresses there. I do have to admitt they werent the friendliest there, but I fell in love with the dress they had. We were told my dress would be altered for free, and now are being told it wont. Ive read different things about davids bridal, and was curious how everyone elses experience with them went... are they good, bad, ok? Did you absolutely hate them or absolutely love them?

Im really curious what other brides opinions are of this place.

Davids Bridal? Good or bad?
I loved my dress from David's Bridal but I did have difficulties with their alterations. I was told that since I bought it off the rack they would dry clean it for free.

They could not alter my dress in time so I said fine- I'll have it altered somewhere else and then bring it back to have it dry cleaned. They would not dry clean it after someone else altered it.

I said fine... dry clean if for me now... and then I'll have the alterations lady at the other place be very careful. David's Bridal wasn't very happy with me when I said that.

Overall my experience was average (my sister who was married 2 years prior to me didn't get a dress there because their customer service was rude to her).

I don't think they have good customer service- but I loved my dress and for what I got the price was great.

I guess there is always trade offs you need to make. I was willing to get a dress I loved for a great price, but I paid for it in accepeting that overall their customer service is poor at best.
Reply:I was just married last June and I used David's Bridal for all my dresses. They were pretty good. I wouldn't go as far to say I loved them, but I didn't hate them. They sold me gloves for my bridesmaids and maid of honor and sold me two left handed gloves! My maid of honor had two left handed gloves and Davids Bridal wouldn't return or exchange them for a pair with a right and left handed glove. That sort of pissed me off, but OH well. My dry cleaning was free through them. They pressed my dress and veil and it turned out gorgeous.
Reply:I got married last June and used David's Bridal. They were absolutely wonderful and everything was perfect. I am sorry to hear you are having problems with them. I am surprised they told you they would alter the dresses for free. The store where I bought my dresses had a sign posted explaining their pricing policies on alterations. The salesman was wonderful and the ladies doing the alterations really took alot of time with us.
Reply:They should alter your dress for free, and steam it as well. I didn't buy my wedding dress there but, I did by my last Military Formal Ball gown there and they were just wonderful. You should go back to Davids and tell them you had a bit of an issue, and that you were told they would alter your dress and you expect nothing less. Go to the manager, forget the middle guy.
Reply:David's Bridal is actually extremely expensive with their alterations. My suggestion is that if you buy the dress, have it altered somewhere else...you'll pay half the price.
