Bridal party and mothers...what colors?

I am wearing a dark blue dress with silver trim that my fiancee and I are making ourselves. He's also dressing in a similar attire...we are dorks modeling the styles after the Lord of the Rings elves. Anyways, since I'm dark blue I was thinking either platinum or silver for the bridesmaids, maybe a lilac. What could my mother wear light blue? She loves that color. What should the bridesmaids wear, would the silverish dresses look nice with purple or burgundy flowers? Thanks in advance!

First of all - ignore that first guy!!! I had a very traditional wedding with a big white dress - and I look back at the style I wore and think "What the **** was I thinking?" No matter WHAT you wear, chances are in 10, 20 and 50 years, your styles will changes so go with what makes you happy NOW! When I look at my wedding pictures I see the smiles, the joy and I remember how happy I was - not how HUGE the poofy sleeves were (ick).





As for colors: I would suggest going with silver for the bridemaids, light blue for your mom, and white, cream and pale blue flowers. It will be lovely!
Reply:The silver and any shade of purple or lavender, but no burgundy, that is a color that goes with gold.
Reply:I think your colors sound great. If your mom looks good in grey (not everybody does) maybe that would be a good possibility. It echoes the silver of the bridesmaids dresses, but is more in keeping with her role as the mother of the bride. A sort of "dusty" blue-grey might be nice as well.

Reply:Go with the lilac for the bridesmaids, purple flowers would look great! Your mom can wear light blue, or anything she wants at all except white, black, and the exact colour of your elvish attendants.

Reply:It's your wedding but how are you going to feel when you look at your wedding pictures years from now? Why not wear the costumes at the rehearsal dinner or at Halloween and wear traditional clothes to the wedding? You will save yourselves alot of embarrassment.
Reply:Since your colors are silver and blue...cool colors....I would stick to that side of the color wheel. Go for lilac and silver and a powder blue. As for the flowers, a mix of light blue, lavender and white will look beautiful! Good luck!!!
Reply:i like the idea of silver or platinum dresses, not a shiny color, but not too dlul or grayish. and i like the idea of a blue gray dress for your mother, if you are trying to keep her in your color scheme. like, slate blue.
