White shoes in April with periwinkle bridesmaid dresses?

Hello all,

My bridesmaids dresses are peri by David's Bridal. Their flowers are white, periwinkle and dark purple. Is it ok to let them choose white shoes for an April wedding? Will it look ok with peri dresses, or should the shoes match? I hate to have them buy shoes plus get them dyed. I'm trying to keep things reasonably priced for my bridesmaids.

White shoes in April with periwinkle bridesmaid dresses?
White not only looks fresh and pretty with periwinkle, but it goes with the white flowers in the bouquets as well! I think this will be a charming look for a spring wedding.

Kudos to you, too, for thinking more of your bridesmaids' comfort and pocketbooks than the joy of having them perfectly match! I'm sure they appreciate having such a thoughtful friend.
Reply:Perhaps silver shoes would look a little less easter egg. Or even neutral sandy colored shoes. I dont know, I've never been a big fan of white shoes, but i am even LESS of a fan of dyed shoes. You are right, they are less likely to wear periwinkle shoes than a more neutral color.

Its so good to hear from thoughtful brides like you. I think a lot of us get wrapped up in the idea that its "our day" and forget about the people we love and why we want them to be there in the first place. Thanks for thinking about your bridesmaids. :)
Reply:When i got married my bridesmaids wore periwinkle dresses too. They also wore white shoes and it looked really nice. I got married in July so some of the girls wore sandals and that also looked nice. Your flower combination sounds really pretty too. My flowers were peri, yellow and purple. To get shoes dyed costs so much and then you take the risk of it not matching the dress perfectly.
Reply:That's totally fine! What I did with my bridesmaids was have them wear pumps - then they could choose the style, heel size, etc.. Didn't want some in sandals, some in pumps. Mind you, they had tea-length gowns.
Reply:Last summer I was in a wedding where we wore white tops, cornflower blue skirts and a cornflower blue sash at the waist. We all wore white strappy sandals, they looked great against the blue skirt, I think you will be fine.
Reply:white shoes would be fine. I got Married in May and had pink dresses with white shoes. Besides if the dresses are long, then the shoes won't be seen as much. As it stands I let my girls pick out their own shoes, and at the reception they all took there shoes off...Shoes are cute, but they aren't the whole package.

Good Luck!~
Reply:If silver doesn't work with the scheme (my first choice, too), then white would also work fine since it is a spring wedding. I was in a wedding and had to wear white with teal. I thought it sounded terrible, but it ended up looking just fine.
Reply:White shoes would be good.
Reply:sounds good to me
Reply:I personally hate white shoes... but I am also the person who would have them ruined 2 min before the wedding. Any chance you could do silver?? I would stay away from dyable- they are a waste of money and are so cheaply made anyone with a foot problem can't wear them.
Reply:I also had peri by David Bridal dresses and I opted for dyed peri shoes by David Bridal as well. I know it is a bit more costly but they looked absolutely stunning. Hope this helps. Remember, if it was their wedding you'd do it for them and after all, you only get married once!
Reply:How about a nice metallic shoe? I had light pink for my wedding, and I had all the girls choose any style silver sandal to wear and they all loved it because they can wear the shoes again. White might not be as recycleable.
Reply:who's gonna be looking at their shoes? Are the dresses long? It'll be you people will be looking at anyway. Tell them to all go shoe shopping together and bring one of the dresses along with them and all can decide on what shoes look best for whatever price they think is reasonable.
Reply:white shoes would set off the periwinkle dresses I would think and they are perfect for a spring wedding. I see no reason to dye them, especially since they will also set off the flowers as well. Happy Wedding!
Reply:I think silver shoes would look better, but white should also work or maybe a beige. I applaud you for considering the finances of your bridesmaids. All to often I see women on this site posting pics of the bridesmaids dresses and am appalled at the expense. There are way too many brides expecting their attendants to put out hundreds of dollars for dresses, shoes, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, etc. You sound like a very considerat bride. Congrats on your engagement.
Reply:Well that was the color of my cousins wedding and they had the same colored shoes but if the dress was long then you could have on white shoes.
Reply:You mentioned that the girls' dresses are coming from David's Bridal, and they will dye the shoes to match the dresses there. It is no additional cost, and will take only about 2 weeks. (Very convenient) White shoes seem very "stark" to me with the periwinkle dresses, not to mention they can get really dirty for the girls, especially if you are taking pictures outside and the ground may be damp in April.

If you can't bring yourself to make the girls buy periwinkle shoes, (I agree, they may never wear them again), silver shoes can most definetly be used again, and can look great later with silver jewelry, jeans, and a black top for example.

Your flowers sound beautiful!
