Looking for suggestions for bridal bouquet?

We are getting married Sept/09. I love calla lillies, however, they run at 14$/stem where I live and that is way out of my budget. I would like a bouquet with a few callas, maybe some roses, and well I don't know what else. I want it to be hand tied, and will be making it myself. Any suggestions on what other flowers to use.

My brides maids will be in Davids bridal "marine" blue. My dress will be white with a marine blue sash.

Also I am looking for suggestions on what to put in my vases on my guest tables.

Get a few callas, for your bouquet, and have them incorporated in. Even 3 of them isn't going to completely break the bank--it will be $42. Keep it an odd number, then fill the rest of the bouquet with something less expensive. If you use a darker red rose, the white callas will REALLY stick out, and show up well.

Don't use blue flowers for the bridesmaids bouquets, they won't show up against their dresses. You want their bouquets to coordinate, not match completely. Definitely use some blue in them if you want, but have the predominant color be something else.
Reply:how about blue hydrangeas ?
Reply:I will tell you that a lot of people who use calla lilies tend to have there bridesmaids carry a single Calla Lilly and then the bride carry a couple more.

September is a great time to get married since it is fall.

Here is one of just the bridal bouquet with only calla Lilies:

Here is a bouquet with roses and Calla Lilies they used all white but you could use other color roses I think that would look gorgeous. Then for your reception you could use roses since they are cheaper.

Here is a website that actually has a bunch of different Calla Lily items (if that is your theme and I thought it was neat but kind of expensive but it might give you some ideas)

Hope this helps a little bit. Good luck and congratulations.

35 callas for $60
Reply:Go to a store that sells high end silk flowers like Garden Ridge, Hobby Lobby, or Michaels to get the Callas. You will be able to pick up some very good fakes there for a few dollars a stem. Once they are mixed in with the real roses you won't be able to notice at all.....not that they would if you used 100% silks if you use good ones.

Blue roses are going to be kind of tricky so the suggestion of a blue hydrangea is a good one. I've also seen bouquets that are just all types of white flowers so you get different shapes and shades. Mixed with a little greenery and use some blue beads to make bouquet jewels and add some sparkle........ it looks amazing.

I like hydrangeas for DIY brides because they already in that "ball" shape used for a bouquet so it makes it easy for you. Something like a Calla is also good because you can just group the stems together and make something long and elegant rather than try for the traditional shapes that can sometimes be tricky. Basically, stick with hardy flowers and stay away from something very delicate like an orchid.

For guest tables I would use the same flowers to reflect your bouquets.

They have some really nice bouquets...yes they are silk but they are very nice.
Reply:If there is a Sam's Club near you they have a great selection of flowers that won't break the bank. We went there for all of our wedding flowers.....they arrived fresh the day before our wedding.
Reply:Irises might work with the calla lilies. I love lilies!
